Studio Policies

Dance:

Class Designation & Student Progress:
Students are not necessarily grouped by age. This is just a guideline for beginners. Rather students are grouped according to skill, practicing habits, and attendance. If we feel a student isn’t keeping up, or could progress faster, we will move them to another class.

Attendance:
Understand that things come up, we must also remember that your class was originally scheduled to suit your needs at the beginning of the season. Therefore, regularly missed classes will REQUIRE make up, private lessons, at your expense, OR a class change. If a student misses mor than 3 practices in a row, a guardian will be contacted by Christina to discuss this situation. Remember, you are part of a TEAM and regularly missing classes not only set the dancer behind, it slows the entire class down.

Tuition:
Tuition is billed at the first of each month, and is due on the 15th of each month. Tuition is NON-REFUNDABLE, and is paid to save your child’s place in class. If you decide to remove your child from a class, you must let us know TWO WEEKS BEFORE the next billing cycle. If we are not contacted, we will continue to bill you for saving your child’s place in class.

Communication:
There are two primary mediums for communication: the Facebook “Drishti Dance Parents” group page, and the TeamApp. The Teamapp is free, and can be found at your device’s “app store.” All announcements are made in these two places. We are not responsible for missed announcements if you do not have one of these two mediums. PLEASE, do not message Christina’s personal Facebook page with dance questions.

Dress Code:
As a studio we have uniforms that MUST be worn to each class. All students must have a purple or black “Drishti” uniform top or Drishti Dance Dress. All tops should be worn with appropriate black dance shorts or leggings. PLEASE HAVE ALL HAIR PULLED BACK.

Bad Weather:
When bad weather develops, all cancellations will be posted on our Facebook Page, the Dance Parents group page, and the Teamapp. Please note that we do not always cancel classes when the schools are closed. They have to make their judgment call early in the morning, sometimes the weather clears up by our class times. Any classes canceled due to bad weather will not be made up unless we miss SEVERAL weeks of class.

Teacher Illness or absences:
In the event of a teacher illness, parents will be notified as soon as possible. Classes cancelled because a teacher in ill, will be made up on a Saturday. Again, all announcements will be posted on Facebook and the TeamApp.

Injuries:
Parents, legal guardians of minor students, and adult students, waive the right to any legal action for any injury sustained on studio property, resulting from normal dance, yoga, fitness class, or any other activity conducted by students before, during, or after class time.

Care of Students:
The studio is not responsible for providing before or after class care for young students. Please do not leave your child here more than 15 minutes before his or her class begins. Children are expected to wait quietly in the hallway until his or her class begins. If your child has multiple classes, he or she may wait quietly in the lounge or waiting room. Please be sure to have your child picked up promptly at the end of class.

Parental Supervision:
Parents are welcome to come into the studio. Guardian supervision is EXPECTED for dancers under the age of 8. We have several chairs and benches throughout for you to sit. Please, however, keep the number of family members to a minimum. We cannot accommodate entire families in our hallway.

Practice:
Students are EXPECTED to practice at home. The studio works to provide any support you may need, such as music and class videos when available. Just as students are given homework at school, dancers are given challenges at dance. One cannot expect to advance his or her skills by only working on them in class. If a student is struggling, please contact Christina to discuss private lessons or to switch to a simpler class.

Courtesy, Bullying, & Body Positivity:
Although it is a rare occurrence, once in awhile there are behaviors that Christina deems unacceptable for her studio. Being rude to the teacher or other classmates, complaining about curriculum or choreography, ganging up on other dancers, or any comments bad about one’s own (or somebody else’s) body, are NOT conducive with the Drishti Vibe. If this behavior is noticed by the teacher, she may REMOVE the dancer from class and provide a verbal warning. If the behavior continues, the dancer will be asked to sit out until behavior improves, and a discussion will take place with a parent or guardian as soon as possible. Likewise, negative comments to, or about any member of staff or other students by PARENTS will result in immediate dismissal from the studio. Negativity spreads like wildfire, and we don’t want it here.
BULLYING BY ANYONE IS SIMPLY NOT TOLERATED.
